Beyond Repairs: A Handyman's Exploration of Interior Style for Homeowners

Hey, I'm Dean. For over four years, I've been building up my skills and the infrastructure to tackle a wide range of projects. As a joiner and carpenter, I'm comfortable fitting everything from doors and skirting boards all the way up to custom media walls. Painting and decorating are also well within my wheelhouse. But here's the thing: while I could just focus on the "handyman" side of things, I've noticed that what people really want is a complete vision – a stylish space that's also practical and well-executed.

Let's face it, there are tons of DIY blogs out there, and just as many focused solely on interior decorating. So, I thought, why not mix it up? I'm fascinated by interior design and the way different styles can transform a home. While I've always appreciated the eclectic Bohemian look, I'm excited to explore the vast world of design – from the cozy charm of English Countryside to the functional appeal of Rustic Farmhouse, and everything in between.

This blog is about that exploration. It's about more than just fixing a leaky tap or assembling flat-pack furniture (though I can definitely help with that!). It's about understanding the principles behind great design and how to bring those principles to life in your own home. As someone with hands-on experience in building and renovating, I can offer a unique perspective. I'll be sharing practical tips not just on how to achieve a certain look, but also on the best materials to use, the tools you'll need, and how to avoid those common DIY pitfalls.

And because I know that budget is always a consideration, we'll be focusing on creating stylish spaces without breaking the bank. We'll explore affordable alternatives, share cost-cutting strategies, and figure out where to splurge and where you can save. Think of this as your guide to achieving the interior style you've always wanted, with practical, buildable advice from someone who knows their way around a saw and a spirit level.

So, if you're dreaming of a home that's both beautiful and functional, and you're looking for a down-to-earth approach that combines design inspiration with real-world skills, then join me on this journey. We'll be diving into different design styles, sharing tips and tricks, and learning how to create spaces we truly love, one project at a time.

Stay tuned for my next post where we'll be diving into Eclectic Bohemian with a focus on budget-friendly and buildable solutions!
